Description
‘Tokiado Fukei sogwa-the 53 stations of the Tokiado.’ Album of 54 sheets in landscape format. The pictures depict life and the landscape on the old coastal road from Kyoto to Yeddo via Kanazawa, Odawa, Hakone, Nunazu, Shizuoka, Kakegawa, Hamamatsu, Okasaki, Miya and Minakuchi. Hard colours, the beginning decline of woodblock printing. Volume I. Ichiryusai Hisoshige I lived from 1797-1858. He came from the school of Toyohiro and was strongly influenced by Hokusai.
